PSMRE is a non-profit club whose charter is to build, maintain and operate a world-class HO (1:87) model railroad, featuring highlights of the Tacoma area during the 1950's. The 25' by 95' exhibit area provides a compressed view of local landmarks from Tacoma's Asarco Tunnel to Stampede Pass, and includes trackage and equipment from the Great Northern, Northern Pacific, Union Pacific and Milwaukee Road railroads. In addition to being a public display, the model is used as an operating forum for PSMRE members.

We are located in the Washington State History Museum on Pacific Avenue in Tacoma. Our membership provides the skill and effort to maintain and operate the layout. Some members have extensive experience, others are rather new. This means there are opportunities to contribute your existing skills and build new ones.

We welcome new members skilled in rolling stock and locomotive maintenance, as well as a knowledge of track, scenery, electronics and software for general maintenance of the layout. We also welcome both novice and experienced people for our operations sessions which usually occur every first Saturday of the month. One of the most rewarding experiences is to act as docent (or tour guide) and answer questions from the public. The exhibit is a highlight for museum visitors, who really enjoy viewing and interacting with the model.

If you are interested, check out our membership page, or drop by for a visit on one of our Tuesday work days and we will give you a tour. Notify us in advance at PSMRE.info@gmail.com and we'll arrange to meet you.
